Volunteer: Girls on the Run Coach (10-week commitment)Volunteer as a Girls on the Run Coach – Fall 2026 Season Girls on the Run is looking for caring, committed volunteers to serve as coaches for our Fall 2026 season. As a coach, you will help inspire girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident through a fun, experience-based curriculum that creatively integrates running. This is your opportunity to build meaningful relationships, strengthen your leadership skills, and make a lasting impact in your community. What Does a Girls on the Run Coach Do? Girls on the Run coaches lead small teams of girls in grades 3–8 and facilitate engaging, research-based lessons that build confidence, connection, and life skills. Coaches: Lead 75–90-minute practices twice per week Deliver the Girls on the Run curriculum Foster a positive, inclusive team environment Serve as a role model and trusted mentor Support participants in setting goals and preparing for the end-of-season 5K Communicate with families as needed Celebrate each girl’s growth and accomplishmentsNo prior coaching or running experience is required! All coaches receive comprehensive training and ongoing support from our council. Time Commitment Two practices per week for 10 weeks Season Dates: August 31 – November 14, 2026 End-of-Season 5K Events: Flagstaff – November 7, 2026 Camp Verde – November 14, 2026Practices take place after school at sites throughout Coconino, Yavapai, Navajo, and Apache counties. When you apply, you can indicate the type of coach role that fits you best: Head Coach Primary leader for the team Facilitates lessons and guides overall team communication and coordination Assistant Coach Supports the head coach Leads some lessons and activities Helps manage group dynamics and ensure all participants feel included Team Helper Provides extra support during practices Assists with activities and logistics Helps redirect participants and create a positive team environment Does not lead lessonsTeam Placement We will assign coaches to teams based on your availability, role preference, experience, and our program needs. Teams are located throughout Coconino, Yavapai, Navajo, and Apache counties, and we strive to place volunteers where they can best serve and thrive.
