Who We Are

Flagstaff Mountain Film Festival is a community-driven, mission-focused festival dedicated to the art of storytelling through film. We believe in the power of film to educate, inspire, and ignite change, creating space for voices that challenge perspectives and deepen our connection to the world around us. Founded in 2003, Flagstaff Mountain Film Festival has spent over two decades bringing thought-provoking, mission-driven films to Northern Arizona. What began as a small gathering of film lovers has evolved into a celebrated cultural event, uniting filmmakers, adventurers, and activists to share stories that challenge, inspire, and connect. Our vision is to be more than just a festival—we strive to be a cultural hub, a space where diverse narratives are uplifted, and a bridge between storytellers and the communities they impact. Through year-round programming, partnerships, and community events, we cultivate an engaged and inclusive audience that values storytelling as a force for change. By curating films that resonate deeply and challenge the status quo, we invite you to experience film with purpose—to be moved, to be inspired, and to see the world through a new lens.

What We Do

Flagstaff Mountain Film Festival is more than just a film festival—it’s a gathering place for stories that inspire, challenge, and connect us. Rooted in the heart of the Colorado Plateau, we showcase films that explore the intersections of environment, culture, adventure, Indigenous voices, and LGBTQ+ experiences. Each April, our main festival brings together filmmakers, activists, and adventurers to celebrate the power of storytelling. But our work doesn’t stop there. Throughout the year, we host community screenings, educational programs, and special events that engage audiences beyond the theater, fostering dialogue and action on the issues that shape our world. With a deep commitment to authentic storytelling and diverse perspectives, we create a space where film is not just watched but experienced—where stories spark conversations, shift perspectives, and inspire a deeper connection to both people and place.
