Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra Volunteer - Beethoven 5K (copy)

Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra’s annual Beethoven 5K is a run that celebrates classical music, nature, community, and the 76 years of joy and inspiration FSO has offered to all residents of Flagstaff and Northern Arizona.

Join us on June 13th for the Beethoven 5K and support the Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra!

Beethoven 5K Volunteer Needs:

Friday, June 12th

1. Registration Package Pick Up (2 volunteers) -  Downtown    @4:00pm (2 hours)

Volunteers to sit at the package pick-up table and answer racers' questions / check out racer packages

Saturday, June 13th

1. Course Markers (2 volunteers) - @6:30am (1.5 hours)
Need to have
supplies: flour (3
bags), ribbons, tape,
signs and map. Mark
the course drawing
arrows using flour at
all intersections. Hang
pre-made signs at
critical junctions
Activity Level: High

2. Bike Pacers (2 volunteers) - @7:00am (1.5 hours)
On a mountain or crossover bike, lead the pack at the start. Must be skilled in biking and have the stamina to stay with the lead runners, ensuring no one goes off course, but also not getting in the way of runners. Activity Level: High

3. Course Marshall (6 volunteers) - @7:00am (2.5 hours)
Stay positioned at
intersections as
defined by the race
director. Direct
runners and cheer
runners, keeping them
on the right track.
Activity Level: Moderate

4. Traffic Aids (2 volunteers) - @7:00am (2.5 hours)
Stationed at the intersection of Cedar Ave and side street to stop traffic for runners to cross (safety vest/stop signs, or safety cones) Activity Level: Moderate  

5. Aid Station Captain (6 volunteers) - @7:00am (2.5 hours)
Must fill cups
and set out on the
table for runners.
Always have cups
filled and ready. Keep
jug facing outward for
runners. Pick up
discarded cups and
take trash away.
Activity Level: High


6. Course Sweep (2 volunteers) - 9:45am (1.25 hours)
Walk the course
looking for remaining
participants and pick
up trash. Bring a trash
bag.
Activity Level: Moderate

7. Parking Attendant (2 volunteers) - 6:30am (1.5 hours)
Hang parking signs in
designated spots. Set
up A-frame signs.
Assist racers to the
parking area and
provide direction on
the location of the
Posse Ramada.
Activity Level: Moderate

8. Registration Table / Packet Pick Up Attendant (2 volunteers) - 6:45am (1.25 hours)
Using registration
rosters, check IDs and
assist with bib + bag
pick up
Activity Level: Light

9. Snack Table Attendant (2 volunteers) - 8:00am (2 hours)
Spread out snack
items, napkins, cut
fruit as needed. Set
out water jugs (2) all
for post-race athletes
Activity Level: Light


10. Clean Up Volunteers (10 volunteers) - 9:30am (1 hour)
Collect all APS boxes
and bring to Posse
Ramada staging area.
Remove trash bags
from County bins.
Collect debris along
the course and in
staging area. Waste
removal arrives at 9:45.
Activity Level: Moderate
